*My Crows* *My Art* *My Way*

Sunday, July 8, 2018

Hi Everyone
Hope you're all doing well.
These past few days, I was thinking too much! You know what I mean? When you start doubting yourself?
I was editing again, putting my art on merchandise and I was just tired of doing it. It's fun seeing your art take life in other ways, but I would rather be painting!

So, I stopped and actually finished a painting, but when I looked at the painting, I didn't like it.

Then my mind started to take over! Thinking, maybe I should do something else? Should I keep going with my crows? ( Other things were going on at this time and it was leading me to think this way. Isn't it funny how something totally different, can affect you?)

I had a pad of paper, thick paper, that I bought ages ago. I said to myself, calm down and took some deep breaths. When I paint, I really don't "plan". I just start to paint. If I draw first, it's just for an idea. You probably wouldn't even know what I drew! LOL!

But, when I looked at this paper, I thought, why not draw one of my crows, using a thin black ink pen. I went for it.
It was freeing. You can't "cover" up anything or "erase" anything. And, I wasn't thinking!
Finished Piece- "I Am All Things Possible"
Who knows, I might do more?
Guess what? The next morning, I woke up to having sold 2 paintings, to a new customer! Grateful! I guess I'm suppose to keep creating my crows! 😃
Truly, deep down in my soul, I do love my crows. I don't know if I could ever stop creating them.
Lesson learned *never stop listening to your soul/heart*.

Big Hugs!

  1. Here’s an exercise a writer friend told me she did at a workshop. On a scrap of paper draw your inner critic. It doesn’t need to be a Mona Lisa drawing. That little voice that tells you you’re not good enough or other negative things. Take the paper and seal it in an envelope and put the envelope in a drawer. Now forget about the inner critic. You seem to have found your own voice. Don’t doubt yourself

  2. I love the advice that CJ shared with you dear Stacy.
I do believe that I will try this, too.
Painting crows are your thing and you put magick into each art piece you create!
I love your drawing and I see where you seemed more free and loose with your strokes compared to paint!
You are a talented artist my friend and congratulations on a new fan of your artwork!!!

Big Hugs and Much Love ❤🌹❤

  11. Wow, that is awesome. What you did was similar to what we did in my memoir writing class. Our teacher would read a very short story or a poem and we were given 5 minutes to write a memory it stirred in us. Surprising how well it worked.

  28. This may seem way off the subject but I have been thinking so much lately that some of the insecurities and doubts we have, all of us, are so prevalent because our world is so far removed from our genetic programming for survival that we are only a hundred and some years removed from in most places in our modern world. Not that long ago, all these choices we have and face today about "our place", "our purpose" and "our path" simply did not exist when life was a day to day struggle for survival before so many of our modern conveniences.

We've evolved past that (in first world countries) but that programming must still be present and inherent and I think for so many of us, our ancestral programming doesn't know what to do with the lack of immediacy and survival. With so much time on our hands, no matter how busy we make ourselves. . . and isn't it funny that seems to be the way people are moving. Keeping super busy every moment of the day, then talking about it as if it's a badge of honor?

Now, that is not to take away from any of our angsts, doubts, insecurities etc but I've found it to be a good check point to nudge myself when I get into those places that I am fortunate to have the luxury of such problems AND the time to dwell on them. lol

So, by all means, we should indulge in that luxury and let it take us where it may creatively. Life has a way of reminding us where we belong, a few sales, a kind word, a desire to pick up a brush again. . .

OR, the lure of the corvid who watches over you and speaks to you time and again. :)

Sorry I have been absent, summer blahs, reverse SADS, or just the glut of good fantasy books I've been trying to find a minute anywhere to read! It's always good to be back reading your posts and seeing your wonderful art come alive. :)

    BIG crow hugs!

  29. ONly stop when it'sabout the business, not the art. Knowing you, that won't happen any day soon. You're very talented, kind and smart. Try not to doubt yourself, okay?
