Goddess Isis and Goddess Hathor

Hi Everyone ;o) It's nice and sunny today, although, we have been having some light snow flurries and tomorrow, we are suppose to get even more snow. Well, March came in like a lamb, so I guess it's going out like a lion ;o)

I have made some "extra" Goddesses, that won't be included in the challenge. As much as I love doing my Native themed art, I love doing my Egyptian themed art too ;o)

"Goddess Isis"

The Goddess Isis is the Great Goddess of Egyptian religion, a powerful sorceress and protectress, who represents the power by which the Pharoahs ruled.

In heiroglyhs, Her name in corporates a throne-symbol, and this attribute was often depicted on Her headdress. She is the daughter of the Earth-God Geb and the Sky-Goddess Nut and sister to Osiris.

She was worshipped as the ideal mother and wife as well as the matron of nature and magic. She was the friend of slaves, sinners, artisans and the downtrodden and she listened to the prayers of the wealthy, maidens, aristocrats and rulers.









"Goddess Hathor"

Hathor is Goddess of women, love, and joy, music, dance, celebration and beauty. She protects women and is present whenever they beautify themselves. She blesses women with fertility. The Greeks identify Her with their Aphrodite.

Hathor's name literally means "House of Horus". Cows as emblems of nourishment are sacred to Her. She usually is shown with either a cow's head on a woman's body, or cow ears and long horns on Her head that enfold the sun disk.

13 Goddesses Week 4 - Greek: Aphrodite

Hi Everyone ;o) It's nice and cold and windy today, but it's sunny! On wednesday, the heat is coming back!

I know I wrote back to everyone in my last post, but I would like to repeat myself, thank you all for the great comments on Goddess Asin ;o) All of your comments truly meant so much to me ;o) Big Hugs ;o)

Now for this week's 13 Goddesses challenge
"Aphrodite" ;O)

Aphrodite is the Greek Goddess of love and beauty, one of the twelve Olympian Gods.

Graceful and gorgeously seductive, Aphrodite possessed a magic girdle that made her irresistible to all who saw her. She often lent out her girdle to other Goddesses, such as to "Hera". Maybe I can borrow it? LOL!

Born from the sea, Aphrodite is also Goddess of sea-voyages who protects sailors and seamen. One of her symbol's is the scallop shell ;o)

Native American Goddess Asin

Hi Everyone ;o)
I hope you're all enjoying Spring ;o) It's so hot here, that I think we have missed Spring. I am happy to say, that some cooler weather is coming. I think where I live, it got too hot too soon!
I got my mom's taxes done and my brother's. Now, I have to do mine. I am taking a little break ;o)

I thought I would share another Goddess I have just finished painting. I'm not including this one, in the challenge. I did two Native American Goddesses. You know how much I love doing Native paintings ;o)
This Goddess is named "Asin". Now some of you might not like her, but I wanted to challenge myself. I wanted to show a lot of emotion.

Goddess Asin is a monster girl, who carries off children in the Alsea area of the Pacific Northwest. Her laughter is an omen of imminent death.

13 Goddesses Week 3 - Japanese: Amaterasu

Hi Everyone ;o) Had a great time away. This week, I have to due my taxes and my mom's too. That's why I needed a rest! LOL!

It's week 3 of the 13 Goddesses Challenge, hosted by the lovely Black Pumpkin ;o)

This week Amaterasu ;o)
Amaterasu is the Japanese Sun Goddess.
She is the ancestress of the Imperial family. Her name means, "Great Shining Goddess Of Heaven".

Amaterasu is an archer. Her quiver holding one thousand arrows. She is also a weaver, who makes the garments of the Gods. (I put a spider in the corner of the painting. Spiders are the symbol for weaving!)

13 Goddesses Week 2 - Babylonian: Ishtar

Hi Everyone ;o) Week 2 of the 13 Goddesses challenge, hosted by the lovely Black Pumpkin ;o)

This week Ishtar ;o)
Ishtar is the Babylonian Goddess of Love and War, embodied in the two aspects of the planet Venus. As "Evening Star", She brings lovers to celebration and as the "Morning Star", She brings the fiery sword of war.

As the Goddess of love and sex, Ishtar is the force that draws mates together and brings fertility, both for humans and animals.

As the Goddess of war, Ishtar takes part in the battle and is shown standing on the back of a lion bearing bow and arrows.

Ishtar in a reading indicates courage and commitment, of rebirth and the death that must precede it.

Lots Of New Art

Well, the sun was out actually yesterday and today, so I was able to take pictures, YEH!!!
The first grouping, I am calling my "red collection". Remember that red painting I did? I showed it to you all I think last week. Many of you commented on that one, so I thought, why not do a entire grouping. I tried to give all the crows different facial expressions, enjoy ;o)

13 Goddesses Week 1 - Celtic: Blodeuwedd

Hi Everyone ;o)
I hope you're all having a great day!
I have joined a 13 week challenge, in which I will be painting 13 different Goddesses from all over the world. (Of course, mine will be in crow form.) This challenge is hosted by the lovely BlackPumpkin. Please go over, when you are done here, to check out what all the other people have created ;o) And, it's not to late to join ;o) I have to say, I am having a lot of fun with this challenge, not only painting, but learning about all the different Goddesses ;o)

My first painting I did is of Blodeuwedd.

She is the Welsh Goddess of spring, created from flowers. Blodeuwedd is fashioned from nine types of blossom, oak, meadowsweet, broom, cockle, bean, nettle, chestnut, primrose and hawthorn.

She was created by the great magicians Math and Gwydion to be Lleu's mate, in response to a curse pronounced by his mother, that he would never have a wife from any race then on the Earth.

Blodeuwedd proved to be treacherous to Lleu, when she and her lover, Gronw Pebyr, plotted against him and killed him.

She was punished and turned into an owl, but still kept her name in Welsh, Blodeuwedd, meaning "Flower Face".

She represents temporary beauty and the bright blooming that must come full circle through death. She is the promise of autumn visible in spring.

Pronunciation: bluh DIE weth ("th" as in the "weather")
