"Tabatha and Little Witch"
Well, tonight was the night. I decided to go to Old Tabatha's Haunted House. I knew it was Halloween and everyone thought I was crazy, (except for mom).
Weird, but since I turned 13 last month, something was calling me to that house! I had to go!
Even though Tabatha had passed away many years ago, the porch light always came on, every Halloween night.
Up the hill I walked. My heart pounding so loud! As I stood on the porch, I wondered where the light came from? A cat brushed by my leg and nudged the squeeky door open.
Hello?? The house was old and all boarded up, but still had a comfy feel to it. I swore I could smell baked bread.
"Hello Little WItch"
"I jumped"
"Please sit, I've been waiting for you"
"For Me?"
"Would you like some treats, Little Witch"
"I'm not a......"
"Tabatha walked away"
"The smell that came out of the kitchen made my tummy rumble"
"Out Tabatha came with popcorn, cookies, candy apples, and hot chocolate"
Tabatha was beautiful. She wore a purple dress and had the biggest smile on her face. Her skin was pale, almost see through.
"I thought you were dead?"
"I thought you were old?"
"One question at a time Little Witch"
"Sometimes you can be dead and still here"
"And even though I am old, I am very young at heart"
"What happened to you Miss Tabatha"
"I was getting ready for Halloween, many years ago, picking apples in the back. I stepped wrong. While falling, my head hit a rock. I remembered calling for help, as loud as I could, but no one came. My soul got tired and I passed away in the apple orchard. Some people did come to look, your mother was one, but nobody found my body"
I felt so sad for Miss Tabatha.
"Don't be sad Little Witch"
"Why do you call me Little Witch. I am just dressed this way, because it is Halloween"
"Are you sure about that Little Witch"
"She made me smile"
"Little Witch, as I said before, I have been waiting for you. My soul has been trapped in this house. One special child, was meant to come to release me on Halloween. They were meant to tell my story every year and make sure I was not forgotten. And, you have been picked to be the chosen one"
"Miss Tabatha, I don't want you to go! Please stay"
"I must go Little Witch, but I promise, every Halloween, when you look towards the moon, you will see me fly by"
I ran home, so excited. I told mom everything. She smiled and believed every word I said.
"Goodnight mom, love you"
"Goodnight Stacy, love you too"
Many years have now passed, and Miss Tabatha's house has been restored to it's full glory! No one lives there, but it is kept up by the community and people of all ages can come and visit. There is a plaque in the front, that says, "Never Forget Miss Tabatha" "Love Little Witch".
Every Halloween night, I see her fly by the moon ;o)
"True story??? I will let you believe what you like" Happy Halloween ;o)
