Hi Everyone
Hope you're all well!
I thought I had did all my research, with the companies for the clothing and articles, well, I found out some more things!
Zazzle is an American based company. You get paid in American funds. So, before I even start, I have to fill out a certain tax form. Which, I don't mind. After that, when I get paid, the basic amount that will be taken off my money is 30%, before anything gets deposited to me. If you make more, then more gets taken off. That's a lot of money! Then at the end of the year, I would have to file two tax returns.

So, I am going to leave Zazzle alone for right now and see what Red Bubble has to offer. They are an Australian company.

The other choice is Art Of Where. Which is the Canadian company that I was telling you about, that doesn't take returns. The weird part is, they do the leggings for Zazzle! Crazy!

I also found some other Canadian companies, where I can have my art printed on their items, but then I purchase and sell them. I can do this with Art of Where too.

I thought this was going to be easy! LOL! As the saying goes, everything happens for a reason. I know this will all work out, it's just going to take me more time, then I thought.

Through all of this, I have finished a painting.
"The Magic Is Within You" (10" x 20" canvas)
Big Hugs 😊

  4. I had no idea Red Bubble was in Australia. I really like their site. I haven't bought anything from them, but took a look when you mentioned it last. Their products look neat and I love that they offer plus sizes in clothing. I shall wait to see what you discover about how they would pay and such. Yes, I am very nosy. :-D

Love "The Magic Is Within You". The texture gives it a touch of mystery.

  5. I'm glad you're exploring your options. :) I'm trying to get back into my folk art and I'll have to do the same once I start consignment (if I do, I might stick to Etsy). It's hard finding the right fit.

  7. I hope you will find the right company for your adorable crow pieces. The new painting is lovely. I always think of you when I hear the crows in the tree telling me it's time to give them breakfast! They are such clever birds. Hugs, Valerie

  11. This decision sounds messy. I never would have thought about the taxes between countries. That stinks. It is very smart going through all this research first. The Magic Is Within You is very inspiring. Well done Stacy!

  14. Hello My Crow Friend!!! I was looking into that also. It can be so confusing. I know you will find the perfect place and then share it with all of us other confused creatives, lol!!! I will let you know if I find any other places too.

I love your background and new header painting, plus your beautiful large canvas. I love seeing all these large paintings you are doing. They look great! I think I owe you an email this time :-) Big hugs and lotsa love!

  17. Good that you are doing research into these companies. Make sure you protect yourself and your copyrights. You may want to have an attorney familiar with copyright to look over any contracts. Good luck.

Wonderful painting. When I see crows in the trees or by the feeder, I think of you.

  18. Hello Stacy
I'm so pleased you are doing all this very thorough research, although time consuming (and perhaps at times confusing) it is very important. It doesn't matter how long it takes the important thing is to research and don't move/sign up until you are completely happy.

Always great to see your paintings, this one is a little different.

Enjoy the rest of your week and have a good weekend

    All the best Jan

  19. As a freelance writer, I can definitely say when you make money on your own, the taxes are outrageous. It also complicates your life at tax time, so it's important to consider that, as well! Of course, if you can make big $$$ off it, it's worth it.

  20. I have learned a lot from all your research. Yes 30% is a lot. I think I would stay away from US companies right now even if they don't take a huge %. As for your art. OMG!!!! This one touches my soul even more that the beautiful piece I have of yours. These is a haunting about this one. I love it!!!! Thank you so much for your comments on my blog. Your always brighten and encourage my day. Hugs N.

  23. Taxes can be the pits. The way to get around them in Zazzle is to just save up your commission money in your Zazzle account and use it towards purchases for yourself. I have to admit I make almost nothing at Zazzle. I only get about 2 dollars for every 20 dollar shirt or mug or whatever they sell. In 2 years I've only made about 40 dollars and I just used it towards my own purchases. It's just for fun for me and for getting a nice discount! The key is spending time promoting your shop and with a full time job I just don't have the time. Like I said it is fun designing though!!!!Love your painting my friend!!!

  25. Glad you are learning more and that what you discovered helped in the decision making process. I think filing two tax returns sound complicated- but then, I find taxes complicated in the first place. Good luck with the other companies.

    Love the painting!

  26. I missed quite a few paintings lately. They're all really pretty. Don't be discouraged by the taxes. Where I live, we also have to pay social security on top of the taxes. I suppose you'll have to do the same.
