*My Crows* *My Art* *My Way*

Friday, January 6, 2017

Hi Everyone!
Hope you're all doing well!
In between working on my special order painting for Finland, I've been doing some research.

For the past 2 years, and 2017, would be the third year, a company has kept e-mailing me, about if I would be interested in putting my art on their clothes. I kept deleting the e-mails. Well, on January 1st, I get another e-mail from them stating, that they are really serious.

I thought, well, they have sent these many e-mails to me, maybe I should look into it. There are many designers from all over the world, who do this with them. The company is very well known and they give back to the communities, that produce their clothing, (like literacy programs).

From what I understand, they reach out to the designers they want. Then I have to start designing! I get to pick what I want my art on. Let's say it's a t-shirt. I decide the background colour, and where to place my art. I could have a heart on the sleeve and a baby crow in the front.

I think it's pretty exciting! I also have to take a picture of my signature, because it will be on every piece that is mine. Isn't that cool??? Deciding if I should write Stacy MagicLoveCrow, or MLC, or Stacy MLC, or Stacy MLC MagicLoveCrow or MagicLoveCrow! LOL!

It's going to take some time, because I have to sit down and really design every piece of garment. Even though it will take time, I think it's going to be fun.

This is an example of some of their "dressier" tops.

Then they have boyfriend t-shirts and tanks.

This sheer wrap, I think would look really dramatic in black, with one of my "Moon Crow's" on the back.
I also love this tote.
There are scarves in all shapes and pillows, but I don't know about that for right now? Maybe the pillows, but I was thinking on a scarf, you wouldn't be able to see the art? But, then I was thinking, someone might display it in their home?
I have all these ideas running through my head! LOL! The good thing is, I can do two designs and maybe a month later add another.
On my right hand side bar, the crow with the moon, that says, Never Dim Your Light For Nobody, I think that would be a cool one for a t-shirt.

There are also dresses. I think they add different styles of clothes through the seasons.
"When" I get this all going, I will show everything to you!

If there is anything you would like to see on a garment, let me know. From past art work, to new art work. I have to sit down and really think of what paintings I want on the clothes.

Big Hugs

  1. I LOVE that they do that!!! You're right about the scarves--I brought two really beautiful scarves from the Signals catalog and you can't see what's on it. Some people can wear scarves as shirts, but I haven't figured out how to do that.

  18. This sounds cool, but as a fellow artist and fan on your art I strongly encourage you to investigate your legal rights! Research and reach out to other artists who use the site, and perhaps consult a local group that might deal in copyright law (not like the expensive lawyers, there are some non for profit groups of paralegals and law students that provide resources through libraries or schools - your area could have one).I just get concerned when I see stuff like this. Read over contracts carefully! Cheers~

  21. Look at you go, Stacy! I was mulling over the scarf option. I once knew a young woman that actually used large scarfs as mini skirt sarongs. She definitely had her own sense of style, that one. Congrats on this major project. I'm with Ladyfair in regards to making sure that you read over any contracts throughly. E-hugs!

  27. amazing, congrats!! as for scarves, I love wearing them but you're right, usually you want to see what is on them (if not displayed on a wall) but you probably could add a few of your baby crows to some patchwork layout, that would work <3

  35. Very cool! Just remember to read every word of any contract or release, and make sure you know what you're getting yourself into and so on. Licensing and such can be tricky. But yay! A new adventure!

  36. OMG this is sooooo exciting. If I may suggest. Always use your name in your signature. That way people know who you are. If you just use MLC or Magic Love Crow no one really knows it is you. I am also glad you did the research. Make sure there is a solid contract with them, and if at all possible try to reach some of the other artists to get their feedback. Heyyy I use to teach a class on this very thing. LOL I am so happy for you. Your art needs to be worn and shown. Congratulations!!!
