*My Crows* *My Art* *My Way*

Hi Everyone!
Hope you're all doing amazing!

For the past 2 weeks, I have been creating 2 10" x 16" paintings. I got these new wood boards, that are made really well. No warping! I have heard some of my artist friends use them, so I thought I would give them a try.

Well, I kept painting and painting. I used a lot of paint! Something was off to me, but I thought I would keep going. When I finally finished both paintings, I looked at them and thought yuck! They were flat to me. Very dull looking! When I looked at my paintings on canvas, they had such nice vibrancy and life to me. So, unfortunately,  I threw them out! They say for acrylic and oils, maybe they work better with oils?

Sorry, I have no new art to show you!

But, I do have some good news on my gym journey!!! 19 pounds gone! Woot, Woot! LOL!

I will leave you with a "crow funny".
Big Hugs

I am so proud of you!!!
Not sure what wood boards are, so I can't be of any help there. But if you didn't like the way it turned out...I would stay with what you do like and what works for you.

    Lots of Hugs & 💗💟💖

  2. Obviously, not everything you try and every experiment you do is going to work out. It's a shame about this one, but brilliance doesn't always follow a time table, huh?

The next thing you try will be great!

  17. Such a shame that the paintings turned out flat. Sad after all the work you put into them - but I can understand your feelings about them.
However, the crow in your blog header is fabulous. It gave me a good laugh.

  19. awww!! Don't throw them away!!! Put them aside and give it some time and when you bring them out again later, you may see them from a different perspective, or have a new technique you want to try! And congrats my friend on your 19 pound loss!! :D xoxo

  20. congratulations. I really must get back on track with the "diet". I have no excuse.
Sorry that the wood didn't work out for you. Yes probably oil would do better but I have used wood for decorative painting and its gone well with acrylics. So maybe too it's technique??? who knows, but if you were not happy then I don't blame you. We are far more critical of our work than others may be.

  21. Congratulations on doing so well with your gym journey! I'm so sorry about the paintings. I'm not sure what the answer is, I've enjoyed the paintings on wood that I've done, but I haven't done that many. Right now I am having problems with an oil painting on panel, hopefully it will get better, but if not, I may have to start from scratch... I think it's good to try new things though, even though they sometimes might not work out...

  24. Now that is funny (the cartoon)! I don't know what those boards are. I do paint on cardbord, gesso first, old hardback book covers (again gesso first). The first painting I ever sold was painted on the cover of an old nursing book about gynecology! Could you imagine if the buyer ever found out? Yes I used a lot of gesso for that one. Right now I am a painting fool with all these great canvases you sent me! Thank you so much, I am using them every day. I actually am using 2 of them today! Big hugs and lotsa love!
