Happy Winter Solstice ;o)

For those of you who don't know, Winter Solstice, is the shortest day of the year. It happens when the sun's daily maximum height in the sky is at it's lowest, and the North Pole is tilted furthest away from the sun. When this occurs, you have the least number of daylight hours and the longest night of the year.
The Solstice is celebrated for the re-birth of the sun ;o) The end of the Solar Year has come, and a New Solar Year begins ;o)

On this special day, I would like to do a giveaway ;o) I feel, for not only me, so many of us, have had a very hard year and many of us are still going through things! For me, it came down to a lot of how I felt about me! Me loving me ;o) So, as the sun returns, I feel I have returned too ;o)

I found this book of poetry in my favourite store and I have to admit, I bought one for myself ;o) By J.K.E Rose. She is from southern Ontario, Canada ;o)
"The Dragon In The Room" "Is Love Too Much To Ask For?"
"The Introduction reads,
Hundreds of years ago I had a mother born in Ireland. I think the Vikings must have raided her village because I have an affinity for the Norse- I am tall, I am blonde, I am stoic- stereotypically and perhaps completely inaccurately Norse.

Anyway, as I gathered my poems, I realized they were really a broken saga....strength challenged, strength lost, strength found- How to make sense of them? The Viking futhark, both alphabet and symbol language, would be the guideposts to follow on the road to me, wherever that is. I have kind of thrown myself in front of you gambling that my saga is much like yours and my words will make sense to you. This book is maybe more terrible warning than good example but I have learned important things- don't hesitate to love; don't hesitate to leave; and don't pretend there are no dragons.

If life is a journey so is love- it can be either a forced march between prisons or an epic quest. I am finished with forced marches. Now I am on an epic quest chasing dragons- within and without- because I know with all my heart that love is not too much to ask for."

I know whomever wins this precious book of poetry is going to love it! If you like to win it, just tell me in your comment and you will be entered ;o) If you don't tell me, you won't be entered. I will announce the winner on Thursday January 1st, 2015! Just to let you all know, this is not a big book. For some of you, you could finish it in a night.

Many blessings ;o) You all mean so much to me! I truly mean that! I don't know what I would have done without you all! You are my Sunshine ;o)

I leave you with the last paragraph of the book ;o)
"After The End"
There is a Japanese art called "Kintsukuroi". It is a way of making something beautiful out of something broken. Shattered fragments are put back together with molten gold and silver. The piece is returned to its original shape but with all fractured lines held together by veins of precious metal. The scars are visible. The scars are what make each piece unique. And I think that is so for all of us. We all have scars from battle, win and lose, and the scars tell all our stories. We are held together by our healed wounds and we glitter like dragon treasure when the sun hits us.

Big Hugs ;o)

  11. OMG, how long since I have visited my sweet Stacy?? First I LOVE the new look of your blog, it is beautiful, the header painting, the background, this is a fantastic makeover to showcase your posts and your crows!!!
Next, I must be getting sentimental, I came via Oma's & was a bit emotional, her wonderful tales of donkeys, kind people, memories... & then I read "After the End" and now I feel like I have watched a batch of Disney movies (they make me cry, I mean 'Snow Dogs' 'Bambi' etc etc), so YES I SO WANT TO WIN, and I am telling Memmy, Dragons/everything Japanese, well, let's just say her 2 fav things in the world (along with manga). Hugs & love Sweet Stacy xoxox

  19. Wow...what a stunningly beautiful and inspiring post!
That last paragraph really struck a chord in me...there is such truth and wisdom in those words.
Our life journeys are so similar...we all have good times...we all have bad times that scar us...we are continually learning to love. I firmly believe that is one of the main life lessons...to learn to live with each other in pure love and compassion.
This book sounds truly amazing. I would love to be entered :)

Hope you had a truly Wonderful Solstice...and that 2015 will be your best year ever!

    Love and Hugs xxx

  24. I have been thinking of you! Thank you for this giveaway, but I may be too late! Just like the White Rabbit! I'm late! I'm late! For a very important date!
Please do have a lovely Christmas as it was traditionally a Pagan Holiday to begin with, Yes? With a mixture of Christ's birth. Tamuz was the son. Not too many really know this, but takes lots of research (I'm not sure if Wikipedia has that information or not. I'll have to go check it out!) I am an Alice, very curious about everything!
    lots of hugs and love,
And may this next year bring you peace and joy and love!

  25. And yes, sincerely, I would like to be included in the giveaway for the dragon poetry. It sounds like an incredible book, and I once went to an online site, to find which 'sign' I was (it was not for the Zodiac) but after many questions and answers, I was rated: 'The Dragon'. It was quite interesting, and kind of fits with the story line of the book.
    thank you again! My friend!
