Yellow Jackets

No, No, I mean Yellow Jackets!
Yes, these nasty buggers!
Before I start to tell you my story. It has been a beautiful cool day here. I had caught up with your posts yesterday in blog world, so I thought I would do some painting for my birthday giveaway and do some gardening outside.
I am weeding and suddenly out of no where I am being attacked!

I run inside and mom didn't know what was going on. I rip out my hair clips and I am freaking! One of them bite my arm, but there were tones in my hair! On the right side! Continuing biting me! I am squishing them and pulling them out of my hair.

We ice packed my head. And, mom went to the pharmacy. Got me some good drugs ;o) My head still feels like tiny sharp pins are being stuck into it and it's throbbing! Very painful! They got me good! Lucky I am not allergic to them!

I will be taking more drugs soon. I took a low dosage before, but will be taking a higher dosage. I was told the pills would make me sleepy.

So, I will be late going around to all your blogs again!

Uggg.....I guess things could be worse right? ;o)

Big Hugs xoxoxoxoxo

( I don't have credit links for these pictures. If they are yours, please let me know, and I will give you credit!)

  3. Oh I can sympathize with that. My problem was ground wasps. Mini versions of those yellow jackets. They would attack en masse and as much as I hate to kill things, they had to go. We tried a couple of things but it didn't solve the problem. So Dan got something from the store and blasted them. End of problem. I now have a bald spot where I will put a plant soon as I can get outside. Its been too wet, but lovely and cool.
Take care, the sting should not last long

  5. OMG! They are the worst! Lucky for you you're not allergic. Feel better soon! I have a similar story but with mom's dog. Imagine getting the wasps out of dog's fur. :) He wasn't bitten though because his fur was too long and they couldn't get to the skin.

  6. OMG Stacy! I really HATE these little SOB'S! We get them pretty bad around here as well and they are just so nasty! These are one insect that I wish evolution could have gotten rid of years ago, honestly!

A few years back, my cousin acccidently swallowed one when it crawled into his soda can, We had to rush him to the hospital because his throat began to swell up!

    Glad you are okay,though!!!

  8. Sorry to hear this latest news! Must be a bad year.....Dennis got stung three times while clearing away so brush in the back yard. For some reason they are also attracted to our siding and must have a hive (?) inside right by where my clothes line is. So far they haven't gotten me as I am hanging the wash. I hope your head heals quickly. Big Hugs!

  9. Oh my goodness! Yellow Jackets are so nasty this time of year. Their nests are in the ground and if you get near them they will attack. I'm allergic to bees so I am very careful of where I step or garden. I saw online that if you plug in one of those bug zappers near their nest, every last one of them will attack it and die. Hope you feel better!

  10. Oh no Stacy!!! I'm glad you are not allergic. It would have been way worse! I believe that is the bee my dad is allergic too. He had a couple of scary incidents in his life. I hope the bites heal up quickly. :)

  11. Oh Stacy, those yellow jackets are nasty critters. That happened to my husband just last week. He got stung a number of times by the same bee. His hands swelled up to a huge size. Hope that you are better now, just take it easy and next time take a can of yellow jacket spray with you. Please be safe.

  15. Aww, I hope you're feeling better! Yellow jackets are nasty. My mom was stung by one a week ago, we worried she might have an allergic reaction but after a trip to the hospital and some aspirin she was doing okay.

  16. Og Stacy my goodness that sounded awful , I hope your feeling better now.
I am always worried about yellow jackets , our Boxer Cricket had a terrible reaction to a bee sting last year and had to be rushed to the vet . I am always afraid if she gets stung by angry yellow jackets when we are hiking she will go into shock , we carry an epi pen for her. Those angry yellow buggers seem to come out of nowhere when you least expect them too. Take care sweety and be well.

  20. I hope all of those stings quit hurting and itching very soon. Yellow jackets can be vicious and seem to just swarm out of nowhere. My daughter was attacked by a swarm of them when she was a toddler. My husband was not too far away from her and scooped her up and ran with her into the house. He got a few stings, but she had so many. They had a nest that we didn't know about under the back porch of our home.. Luckily, she didn't have an allergic reaction. My daughter is 31 now and is still afraid of bees, with good reason.

  21. Oh you poor thing! OUCH! We call those "meat bees" where I live. They sting and bite and don't die after their horrid attacks. I can't even imagine being bit and stung on your head. Good thing your mom could get some medicine for you. Hopefully you will get some relief and some rest. Big hugs my friend and keep us posted!

  24. Stacy I am so sorry! I have been stung by yellow jacket hornets before, I can't imagine being stung so many times though! OUCH! When Guy was just a kitten he played with a yellow jacket and got stung on his paw, it swelled up twice it's normal size!! This is the time of year they are at their worst, the nests are dieing off and those buggers are just drifting around with nothing else to do except sting everyone! They also can sting repeatedly as they do not lose their stinger like most bees do. I LOVE honey bees and bumble bees, but HORNETS are a whole other story! Hope you feel better by now!

  30. OMG - how horrible. I had 3 yellow jackets get stuck inside my skirt last summer and stung my legs several times. Made me horribly sick! I cannot imagine THAT many and stuck in my hair, no less! I hope you're recovering ok. Sending lots of hugs!

  32. Oh my Stacy...I sure hope that does not happen again. In Rochester, NY...where I just went, they have a lot of bees. You can't go to an outdoor cafe without them swarming around your food. It's a real pain.

I enjoyed the old photos of your dear aunt and I just love your You're the One painting. There is such a sweetness to it.
