Google Is Axing Google Reader, Please Read!

Hi Everyone! Well, I have been hearing a lot about "Google", axing "Google Reader". I do use Google and when I first heard about this, I thought, it won't affect me, I don't use it! Well, I didn't realize I did use it! LOL! I didn't know the name of it? So, if you are like me, and are not sure what I am talking about and you use Google, this is what I do, to locate and read my blogs that I follow.

I go into my Blogger. On the left hand side, it has my "Reading List" and on the right hand side, it lists all the new posts. This is Google Reader and on July 1st, it is gone!

I have also been told, "The Follow By E-mail" button will be gone too. Uggggg!!!! If you have heard anything different, please let me know.

I have signed the petition, but I don't know if this is going to do any good?

I don't want to lose any of you and I want to keep blogging! So, if any of you use Google, I would like to know what you are going to do ;o)

I have been hearing a lot about "feedly". Are any of you using it?

Please leave me some comments! ;o) Besides feedly, I haven't heard about anything else?

And, if you didn't know about this, maybe put this on your blog and see if you get any suggestions from other people ;o)

Big Hugs ;o)

One more quick question, do we all have to follow each other on the same thing?

  3. Wow! I didn't know this. Good thing that I have a blog list of the blogs I follow.

By the way, I'm a strange person so when I saw the image of the crow saying What's up? I imagined he was saying: "How you doin'?" and she giggles flirtily. he he

  4. Gosh, I hadn't heard about this...but I don't like it! That's how I follow my blogs, too. There's also a few I follow by email. Humm...I wonder what they (Google) expect people to do? Very strange. I'll have to do some research on it. Thanks, Stacy!

  5. ...hi Stacy! ~ yes ~ i received the google reader notice about a week ago ~ and ~ i felt at a bit of a loss ~ on how to compensate for it's future lack!...)0:
...however ~ i've thought about it ~ and ~ we still have rss feeds ~ the blog lists gadgets ~ the links list gadgets ~ as well as book-marking! ~ and ~ not to mention ~ many others ~ that i may not yet be aware of!...
...i guess when it's time for change ~ it tends to make us humans a little wary! ~ all's good ~ there will be many ways around this tiny challenge!...
...when and if the times comes ~ by incorporating the gadgets / rss feeds / bookmarks ~ in place ~ the uncertainty of this future event ~ may not impact as much as one thought! ~ here's to being hopeful! ~ blessed be!...(0:

  6. Hi Stacy,

I love Google Reader and am sure going to miss it. Thank you for suggesting Feedly. I just installed it and so far so good. It synced with Google Reader and imported my blogs, even sorted them the same way.

It looks like it is quite similar possibly a little more complicated, but I will try and get used to it. I can change later if I decide I don't like it. But so far so good!

  10. I don't know if it's going to effect me or not. I click on to my blogger bookmark and it has me sign in to google. After signing in it takes me to my blog list on blogger.

  12. Every time google/blogger makes changes it is usually not for the benefit of the blogger. I have tried other "following" programs and they don't really work. I lost a lot of readers when google changed to the "google reader" it is just not the same. Google 1 is how they want us to stay in contact but that doesn't work for me either. I don't FB or Tweet. I like blogging so much better. No real answer for you. Sorry

  13. Yikes ... I never got a notice ... I will check out feedly when the time comes...we love firefox anyway. I don't tweet or facebook. You have to have a cell phone and texting in order to get facebook now anyway and that leaves me out. I have heard way too many bad things about facebook. Thanks for this info.

    Love always,
    Jan

  15. I have seen other bloggers talking about this "lovely situation" that Blogger and Google have dropped into our laps like hot soup. I went to Bloglovin and connectd there but I also did a backup of my bloglist so that if all else fails, I still have a way of looking on my own computer for the addy's of my faves.
I swear, someone, somewhere sits around and thinks of ways to make the "little people" squirm. I don't like that feeling. If it was progress, I'd be holding the sign and chanting the chant but it is just gonna make Google more money or cut costs and it is always about the bottom line not the people. Oh I sound bitter huh? Oma Linda

I use the blogger dashboard for the blogs that I follow....the reader seems to be something else altogether! Why do you think they both are going ... I did see the notice when I went to the google reader page but nothing was every on the blogger dashboard.

  17. Hi Stacy, I use blogger. Not Google reader. I have never used it. I have no one other than you to help me. Please advise as to what to do.

  18. I switched to Bloglovin', It's super easy to click a button and move all of your favorite blogs over. I like it so far. I just go to bloglovin' and read my blogs just like with Google Reader. Good luck with what ever you decide to try!

  19. aw...bummer..I love using follow by email..it is convenient ..too bad they keep changing all these good things!!thanx for all the info!

  20. Ugh, I hadn't heard about the follow with email. I have heard Feebly and Bloglovin mentioned often. I have installed the bloglovin widget on my blog but have not gone investigating it properly yet. I use an app on my phone that uses Google reader and they are looking for alternatives so I am crossing my fingers.

  21. Bloglovin was super easy to just transfer everybody over to. It had an auto feature, so I just did that. LOL! Lazy blogger me! :)
