Snow, Removing Wall Paper, New Crow Art

Hi Everyone! I hope you've been having a great day! I have been, but I have to say, my arms are soar, and my butt is soar! LOL! Can you guess why? If you said snow, you are right! Not the nice fluffy snow, I mean snow mixed with rain! Can you say cement? I have finished the front and the back of the house. I also took out my trusty roof shovel and did some snow removal from up there! No, I didn't get on the roof. It's actually a long pole, and the shovel is at the end. So you swing up to the roof and pull the snow down, until it comes off. It has been an eventful and fun day! LOL!
And, not only doing that today, mom and I have started to take off the wall paper from our downstairs bathroom!
Yes, we live in an older home. We do a few things every year. This year it is this bathroom. It's not that small, it has a shower and tub stall to the left. The reason I am bringing all of this up, is because, mom was dreading taking down the wall paper. I told her I read an excellent post on Crystal's blog about removing wall paper. Fabric Softener, mixed with water, and put into a spray bottle and use a rigid paint scraper. Guess what?? It works!! The pictures I will show you, mom and I just did in about an hour! Truly, if we wanted to, we probably could have got it all done in a day! Mom wanted me to tell you Crystal, you got a 75 year old lady excited! LOL!

Our old paint scrapers. Yes, we even used a snow scraper! LOL!

We won't be using a shower curtain in the bathroom anymore, but I will be keeping the hangers! I love them so much! Look at the pictures on them ;o)

I will take pictures, when the bathroom is done ;o)
On to some new art ;o)
"My Tea Cup"
"Breathe"
Before I go, I want to say welcome to all my new followers ;o) I will be around to everyone's blog soon ;o) You know me, I might be late, but I will be there!
Big Hugs ;o)

  2. DId you notice how the first photo of the removed wall paper resembles....a crow?! Tail at the bottom-wings outspread! How cool...you even make art when you are remodeling! Take it easy shoveling...it will still be there tomorrow. The tea cup crow is just adorable!

  3. Yes, I agree with Craftymoose Crafts, the first photo does look like a flying crow! I like the hangers too.
Snow hit here too. take a look, I made a new post. It was so very heavy, you had to king of push it along..Weird snow. I was shoveling off the deck for the dogs at 6:00 a.m. If I didn't the snow would have eaten the dogs..they weigh 3 and 7 lbs. Like your new crows. Very creative..I love the one in the teacup.

  4. The new work looks gorgeous and I don't envy you with the wallpaper removal. Ick. We had to do it, more than once. A steamer can really help loosen it up. Good luck!

  5. Ohhh wet heavy snow and the pole that does the roof. I lived in that kind of weather most of my life. I can not tell you how happy I am that I DON'T any longer. LOL
Your bathroom will look great when it is finished. Can't wait to see it. Your new crows are perfect. Relax and breath.
    Have a great evening

  7. Oh argghhh! I remember many days wallpapering our house and my Mother's. Can't wait to see the finished product. And I can see why the shower curtain holders you are keeping. They are precious.

Breathe is wonderful! I keep reminding myself to do it slowly!

  8. I love the new art work....the tea cup is MagicLove Crow perfection and the Breathe crow is a super focus piece. I am so glad that Mr. Sun takes care of our snow fall in a day or so....cuz this olde broad would have an awful time doing what you did.
I loved (you notice past tense) wallpaper at one time. The last room that had wall paper, Shelley and fiance Tommy took it off....wish I would have known about the fabric softener trick....woulda been a time saver.
So glad that you and Momma Crow are having a redeco time together...I really love that time spent. We always have the best talks while we work. I hope ya'll do too. Oma Linda

  11. Stacy, I hope the snow lets up soon and leaves you with just enough to enjoy.
Been there, done that. Mom and I bought a house 15 years ago, was built in the 40's the wallpaper was on there and not coming off. Lol didn't get very far ha ha... Eventually the house got sold.

  19. Glad that my trial and error was able to help your job go quicker and easier, after all that is my motto. Fabric softener works wonders!! I have to agree with the others the half removed wallpaper looks very crow-like. All this work you are doing and you still have time to paint awesome art? Have I told you that you are amazing! I can't wait to see how your bathroom turns out. :-)

  22. We have a fairly new home but it's a disgrace how it was made ... my daughter will be fixing up the shower tile today and calking ... everything constructed here was done is a hurry and with profits only in mind ... house are so pretty but not made very well ... oh well, I have to let this go and trust all will be ok. Still busy trying to make up for lost time.

    Happiness always,
    Jan

  23. I agree with others ... as I was looking at the photos of the bathroom, I was struck by the fact that the torn away paper area looked like a crow!

Your new crow paintings are great ... but I am really taken with "My Tea Cup" ....

    Big hugs!

  28. I see the crow and the silhouette of the woman that Uuna called a Queen. It's funny how those things just pop out. Glad you are enjoying all of that cold air outside! It won't be long before spring comes, so happy shovelling, Stacy!

I'm partial to the teacup crow, but breathe is also an inspirational choice.

And great to get out of your comfort zone! 34. That shovelling & scraping sounds much harder than a visit to the gym!!! Well done & LOVE those little pussy hangers! Also I thought the same as Debbie about when I first glanced at that ripped wallpaper it resembled a crow, I actually thought it was new art you were working on LOL!!! That is the absolutely cutest teacup crow Stacy & love the reminder to 'Breathe' especially when we rush around trying to do everything at once... mmm... probably inspired by your recent activities!!

  38. Hello - I came here through your Etsy shop! I love crows (and ravens) as well, and we have so many around here. Every evening they have a big "meeting" in one of the old trees in our neighborhood. Your art of them is beautiful! I'm glad I came here - thank you for following me on Etsy, otherwise I might have never got here!
