13 Goddesses Week 11 - African: Aida-Wedo

Hi Everyone ;o) Hope you're all having a wonderful day ;o) It's week 11 of the 13 Goddesses Challenge ;o) I am excited to see what everyone thinks of this Goddess. I love what she stands for ;o)

Let me introduce to you, Aida-Wedo ;o)

Aida-Wedo is the Western African Goddess of water, snakes, and the rainbow, represented by the rainbow python, a snake whose scales are iridescent.

She represents continuity and strength, integration and wholeness. Her message is one of healing and strength for the whole of the world ;o)

Next week Australian Goddess Gnowee ;o)

I would like to mention one more important item ;o) The lovely Magaly is doing a virtual tour to introduce the story she has just wrote. See on the right hand side of my blog, "AlmaMia Cienfuegos". The tour starts May 15th at beautiful Shelle's blog ;o) You know what, Shelle, also did the art work for Magaly ;o) Love what you did Shelle! Magaly comes to my blog on May 19th ;o) I hope you all can join in the fun in reading one wicked story! There is also a giveaway ;o) Please click on the link I have on the right hand side ;o)

Big Hugs Everyone ;o) Have a great day ;o)

  9. I've never heard of this Goddess before. It's good to learn about different deities. Her name, Aida-Wedo, is the W pronounced as a V or a W? Also, her representations are wonderful and her symbol being a rainbow python sort of makes the python a bit less scary. Although I would admire the python from afar (so I don't get eaten and)to see how the sun reflects on the rainbow scales.

  10. This is so beautifully fluid, at first I thought this was the 'rainbow serpent' (an indigenous Aussie mythological creature) it really is cool & love her message... YEY can't wait to see the next one, Aussie,Aussie,Aussie, Oi,Oi,OI!!!

  12. How weird - at the moment sometimes my comments are posting twice... if they were REALLY GOOD I wouldn't mind LOL, but then when you delete the doubled up posted comment I think sometimes people think something nasty was said...

    well...

IT WAS... LOL (just joking), now I'll see if this one posts twice? ;)

  15. How interesting that Aida-Wedo is the goddess of both rainbows and snakes. They are so opposite, that they complement each other. Beautiful painting as always. :)

  16. Aida-Wedo's message is such a good one! As usual, you have portrayed her excellently and interestingly!

I had to chuckle at Shelle's cheer...we were on tour several years ago with a group that was 90%Aussie's, and by the end of the trip, they had us chanting this too!

  19. Big Hugs Everyone! I love all your comments!
I am sorry, I don't know how to correctly pronounce her name? I looked it up and can't find any information about that.
Shelle, Oi, Oi, Oi, did I say it right?
I have to ask Debbie too, since she was chanting this too, with her Aussie group ;o) LOL!
